Prime Mental Performance is proud to announce a new partnership with Putnam Valley Rise Baseball as they lead the way in youth sports development. With this partnership, athletes are not only gaining an edge on the field—they’re building lifelong skills for confidence, focus, and leadership.
Building Athletes from the Inside Out
For Head Coach Santoro, the motivation to integrate mental performance training is simple: “A player can have all the talent in the world, but if they can’t manage nerves, stay focused, or bounce back from mistakes, it limits their potential,” he shared. “At Putnam Valley Rise, we’re committed to developing the whole athlete—not just their physical skills.”
Why Mental Strength Matters
Baseball is a game of failure. Coach Santoro knows that all too well: “You can get out 7 out of 10 times and still be considered elite. What separates the good players from the great ones is how they respond to failure.” He believes that mental training builds confidence, emotional control, and resilience—all vital for performing under pressure and bouncing back stronger.
Developing Leaders, Not Just Players
Beyond athletic ability, Coach Santoro values character. “We look for players who are coachable, self-aware, competitive, and team-oriented,” he said. Mental performance training reinforces these traits by helping athletes set goals, manage emotions, and stay positive—skills that translate on and off the field.

A Partnership That Raises the Bar
This collaboration with Prime Mental Performance provides both players and coaches with a shared structure, language, and toolbox for mastering the mental side of the game. “It’s going to raise the bar for how we train and prepare—physically and mentally,” Santoro said. “Our staff is gaining tools to reinforce these lessons every day, and our players will feel more confident and prepared to meet the moment.”
Advice for Parents and Young Athletes
For those new to mental training, Coach Santoro’s advice is clear: “It’s not about fixing something. It’s about building a skill set just like hitting or throwing. Whether it’s using breathing techniques or visualizing success, these tools can make a big impact.”
He also encourages parents to stay involved and supportive: “Be patient. This is a process. Your encouragement means everything as your child grows both mentally and emotionally.”
